After graduating from school in Germany, Christian moved to Australia in 2011 to commence his studies with a Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Adelaide. He completed his degree with majors in Genetics as well as Microbiology, Virology and Immunology in 2014. For his Master's degree equivalent (B.Sc. Honours), he joined the Neurogenetics Research Group at the Women's and Children's Hospital in Adelaide. His research focus was on identifying the genetics and molecular pathology of rare intellectual disabilties. Christian moved back to Germany to join the Lübeck Institute of Experimental Dermatology as a PhD student, where his main research interest is to identify genetic aberrations associated with bullous pemphigoid.
