Shirin Emtenani, M.Sc., received her master degree in biochemistry from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad (FUM), Iran, in 2013. From 2013 to 2014 she continued her work at the Department of Chemistry, FUM, as a research scientist.

In November 2014, she started her Ph.D. education at the Lübeck Institute of Experimental Dermatology (LIED), University of Lübeck (Lübeck, Germany), in association to the Research Training Group 1727.

Her Ph.D. thesis focuses on the cloning of human autoantibodies and the extensive characterization of their pathophysiologic impact in IgA-mediated pemphigus.
