Asmahan Khodr El Oueyk studied Biology (B.Sc.) at the Lebanese University, and Biomedical Sciences (M.Sc., focus on inflammatory bowel diseases) at the University of Balamand, Lebanon. She earned her Doctorate in Biological Sciences (PhD) in 2020 through a joint program between Beirut Arab University and the Doctoral School of Science & Technology at the Lebanese University, investigating the effects of uremic serum on endothelial cell function.

In 2022, she joined the Department of Dermatology, Allergy and Venereology at the University of Lübeck, working with PD Dr. Christoph Hammers and Prof. Dr. Admar Verschoor on the role of complement receptors 1 and 2 in the development of autoantibody responses in pemphigoid diseases as part of the CRC 1526 "Pathomechanisms of Antibody-mediated Autoimmunity (PANTAU)".

Currently, Asmahan is a postdoctoral researcher at the Lübeck Institute for Experimental Dermatology (LIED), University of Lübeck, in the group of Prof. Ralf Ludwig. Her research focuses on advancing human-relevant skin models— including human skin organ culture (HSOC) and 3D skin equivalents— to unravel the mechanisms driving bullous pemphigoid and to support the development of animal-free therapeutic testing platforms.
